The Webadventure project is the one I had been looking forward to the most. For this project, I created an “interactive web experience using links that move users along a path of web pages in a linear, or nonlinear and dynamic fashion.” This project required us to make five GIFs, ten images (five Photoshop and five found images), and we needed twenty links minimum per page. My idea for this project was to create a makeover game through Wix. When I was little, I was only interested in playing these online makeover/makeup games. In the game, they would start with a girl with bushy eyebrows, acne, and other conventionally unattractive features. The player would then make her “pretty” by changing all of her imperfections. As a twenty-year-old looking back on those games now, I feel as though they were insensitive and non-inclusive. Not only did it shame girls who had imperfections, but there was no diversity. It was only ever a white blonde woman. With this project, I kept the parts of the game I loved while making it more inclusive and less shameful. I added different skin tones and included makeup for darker complexions. I decided to add rude commentary like “Let's cover those chapped lips” and “bushy eyebrows” because it felt as though the game was talking to you since there was no makeover doll. I had a great time making it and think it came out very fun.
